Vascular Surgeons perform surgery to treat patients with conditions affecting their arteries and veins. They work in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries.  Most of the nurses are employed in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries. 
 
Minimum requirements for vascular surgeons include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration. 
 
 

Job Description

  • review the patient’s medical history, physical conditions and reaction to the medication perform diagnostic tests such as plethysmography, duplex ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans, angiography 
  • treat a wide variety of heart and vein conditions including carotid artery disease, aneurysm, critical limb ischema, venous disease and lymphoedema
  • perform a wide range of reconstructive and restorative operations that repair damaged arteries and veins and remove blockages from arteries and veins including balloon angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis and bypass
  • prescribe post-operative care, and monitor patients' progress 
  • maintain records of operations
