Medical Radiation Therapists operate x-ray and other high energy X-rays and other radiation and electron generating and monitoring equipment for the treatment of patients with cancer.  
 
Medical Radiation Therapists work in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries.  Minimum requirements for this occupation include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration.
 
 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • receive a referral to conduct radiation treatment of cancer patients 
  • determine the appropriate equipment to use and the required equipment settings
  • compute the necessary details of the radiation procedures, including the length and intensity of radiation exposure and the size and strength of dosage of isotopes
  • ensure patient’s safety during procedures 
  • submit findings to doctors and other medical practitioners
