Registered Nurses (Mental Health) give nursing care to patients with mental health disorders, dysfunctions and illnesses and those experiencing emotional distress and crisis in health, welfare, aged care and correctional services and facilities, and the community. Most of the nurses are employed in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries. 
 
Minimum requirements for registered nurses include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration. 
 
 

Job Description

  • plan, carry out and evaluate nursing care for patients as per nursing practice and standards. 
  • consult with other health staff members and work together to care of patients.
  • facilitate interventions, therapies and treatments and monitor responses to care and treatment plans 
  • promote health education through participation in health-related initiatives 
  • provide information to patients and families about care and treatment 
  • manage the work of enrolled nurses and other health care workers
