Radiation Oncologist

Radiation Oncologists deliver medical care and management services to patients with cancer and other medical conditions through radiation treatment and provide advice on palliative and other supportive care of patients with cancer. They work in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries. 
 
Minimum requirements for radation oncologist include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration.  
 
 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • check internal structures and functions of organ systems and recognizes x-ray findings and other examinations and tests. 
  • diagnose and advise patients, physicians, surgeons or other doctors.
  • administer radiopaque substances to render internal structures and organs visible on x-ray films or fluoroscope screens
  • perform ultrasound, gamma camera, radioisotope scans and CT scanning
