Physiotherapists evaluate, treat and prevent disorders in human movement caused by injury or disease. Common duties include: 
 
  • test muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability of patients to determine physical problems of patients
  • implement treatment programs that address patients' problems of pain reduction, improved circulation, muscle strengthening, improvement of   cardiovascular and respiratory functions, restoration of mobility and improvement of balance and coordination
  • use exercise, heat, cold, massage, manipulation, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, ultraviolet and infra-red light and ultrasound in the treatment of patients
  • review and monitor programs and treatments
  • check with other Health Professionals about patients' problems, needs and progress, as needed
 
Physiotherapists work in most parts of Australia. They work primarily in the Healthcare and Social Assistance industry. In recent years, Physiotherapists have grown strongly and is predicted to continue in the future.
 
This occupation is predicted to have massive growth in the next five years: from 25,000 in 2018 to 31,200 by 2023 or around 13,000 job openings in 5 years.
 
Minimum requirements for Physiotherapists include bachelor’s degree, relevant work experience, and registration.
