Occupational and Environmental Health Professionals

Occupational and Environmental Health Professionals promote, execute and assess programs and policies to oversee the environmental health and occupational health and safety and related legislation to ensure safe and healthy working conditions. Common duties include:

  • design, rollout and review environmental health management projects and occupational health and safety plans
  • prepare and implement projects and strategies for the suitable, economic and safe disposal of commercial, industrial, medical and household wastes
  • implement legislation for food safety, wastewater treatment and disposal systems, recreation and domestic water quality, contaminated and hazardous substances, communicable diseases, 
  • develop, implement and oversee programs to reduce workplace and environmental pollution involving chemical and physical hazards
