Massage Therapists provide therapeutic massage and apply body treatments for health, fitness and remedy. Common duties include:

• massage the muscles, tendons and ligaments and other soft tissues of the body to assist in healing
• use a variety of massage techniques to prevent injury and improve sports performance  
• apply treatments to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation and promote relaxation 
• evaluate and treat specific soft tissue dysfunction and providing rehabilitation advice 
• use complementary aids to assist in recovery like wet compresses, ice, infra-red lamps, essential oils and herbal and mineral therapies 
• evaluate the client's physical condition and history and give advice on stretching exercises and relaxation techniques
 
Massage Therapists work in most parts of Australia. They work primarily in the Healthcare and Social Assistance industry.
 
The demand for Massage Therapist grew strongly in the last five years and expected to continue in the next five years, from 19,900 in 2018 to 23,900 by 2023 or around 15,000 job openings in 5 years.. 
 
Minimum requirements for a Massage Therapist include a diploma, relevant work experience, and registration
