REGISTERED NURSES

Registered nurses deliver nursing care to patients in hospitals, aged care, and other healthcare facilities, and in the community. Common duties include: 
 
  • evaluate, plan, roll-out and assess nursing care for patients according to accepted nursing practise and standards
  • provide treatments, therapies and interventions such as medications, and monitoring responses to treatment and care plan
  • work with other Health Professionals by coordinating the care of patients
  • provide information and answer questions to patients and families about treatment and care
  • manage the work of Enrolled Nurses and other health care worker

Most of the nurses are employed in the Care and Social Assistance industries. The occupation has seen tremendous growth in the last five years and expected to continue in the next five years: from 279,600 in 2018 to 330,900 by 2023 or around 147,000 job openings in 5 years.

Minimum requirements for registered nurses include a bachelor degree, relevant experience, and registration.
