Nuclear Medicine Technologists conduct or assists in performing diagnostic examinations using radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals. They also administer radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for treatment purposes. They work in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries.  
 
Minimum requirements for nuclear medicine technologists include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration.
 
 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • receive a referral to conduct medical imaging and radiation treatment  
  • determine the appropriate equipment to use and the required equipment settings
  • compute the necessary details of the radiation procedures, including the length and intensity of radiation exposure and the size and strength of dosage of isotopes
  • ensure patient’s safety during procedures 
  • submit findings to doctors and other medical practitioners
